Process 3 | Project 2

I have now got my video file ready to go for projecting for the project. I have a camera and a tripod ready that I'm borrowing from a friend ready to go as well and a projector booked from the cage. Plan to install and film soon!

Artist Research | Rafael Lozano-Hemmer

Rafael Lozano-Hemmer's  33 Questions per Minute  really intrigued me because it is  one of many of a lot of large-scale interactive installations that he does. This one in particular focuses on a computer program that generates  fortuitous questions. Most of the questions don't make any sense, but the program uses grammatical rules and words from a dictionary to make these questions. The LCD screens that he used to display these questions would show 33 questions a minute, enough time to read them but not to reflect on them.  However, it is interactive as well. Viewers can enter their own questions into the system and they will randomly be put into the mix of 33 questions a minute. Since they are random viewers are unable to tell the difference between computer generated questions and human generated questions. Artist Statement | Final

Here, I wanted to focus on something that's very close to me. For those who know me well, they know that Disney World has always been close to my heart. I have grown up going to Disney since I was basically born and have been brought up loving Disney. This final project I wanted to focus on my personal experiences with Disney and how it makes me feel.  My first trip was when I wasn't even 1 years old and have been going with my family ever since. I have even done two Disney College Programs working for this company and even part time for a short time frame. Thinking about stress and stress relievers, Disney and going to their parks has always been my stress reliever, you can ask almost anyone in this classroom and they can attest to this. I really wanted to try to portray the feelings I have when I am in Disney and how it has really impacted my life. I think projecting onto my hand made ears, t-shirts, hats, and pins makes this even more personal.

Artist Statement | Project 1

For this project, I have chose to title it Senses because the 5 senses are my main theme around this installation. Sometimes I think and believe that I have heightened senses, some more than others and I wanted to try to capture that. For me, hearing is the one that "acts up" the most. I find myself to be very sensitive to noises, in this case annoying noises.  People smacking/crunching their food is the main discomforting noise for me, which is why I chose to show that in this project. I decided to keep the audio from these videos of me eating annoying foods (apple, chips, popcorn) to really show the discomfort I get from these noises.  As for the other senses, my sense of smell would probably be next on the list because I have really bad allergies, not only to animals but to pretty much everything outdoors.
